From motility-induced phase-separation to glassiness in dense active matter

چکیده
Abstract Dense active systems are widespread in nature, examples range from bacterial colonies to biological tissues. clusters of particles can be obtained by increasing the packing fraction system or taking advantage a peculiar phenomenon named motility-induced phase separation (MIPS). In this work, we explore diagram two-dimensional model glass and show that disordered materials develop rich collective behaviour encompassing both MIPS glassiness. We find that, although glassy state is almost indistinguishable equilibrium glasses, mechanisms leading its fluidization do not have any counterpart. Our results rationalized terms crossover between low-activity regime, where dynamics controlled an effective temperature, high-activity which drives towards MIPS.

Motility-Induced Phase Separation
Self-propelled particles include both self-phoretic synthetic colloids and various micro-organisms. By continually consuming energy, they bypass the laws of equilibrium thermodynamics. These laws enforce the Boltzmann distribution in thermal equilibrium: the steady state is then independent of kinetic parameters. In contrast, self-propelled particles tend to accumulate where they move more slow...

Hyperon-quark Mixed Phase in Dense Matter
We investigate the properties of the hadron-quark mixed phase in compact stars using a Brueckner-Hartree-Fock framework for hadronic matter and the MIT bag model for quark matter. We find that the equation of state of the mixed phase is similar to that given by the Maxwell construction. The composition of the mixed phase, however, is very different from that of the Maxwell construction; in part...
متن کاملSuperfluid phase transitions in dense neutron matter.
The phase transitions in a realistic system with triplet pairing, dense neutron matter, have been investigated. The spectrum of phases of the 3P2-3F2 model, which adequately describes pairing in this system, is analytically constructed with the aid of a separation method for solving BCS gap equations in states of arbitrary angular momentum. In addition to solutions involving a single value of t...
متن کاملQuarkyonic phase in dense two color matter
We present results from simulations of two color QCD with two Wilson quark flavors in the presence of a quark chemical potential at two different lattice spacings. The equation of state, conformal anomaly, superfluid order parameter, and Polyakov line are all discussed. Our results suggest that the transitions from hadronic to quark matter and from confined to deconfined matter occur at distinc...
